Level 1 course Diving Medicine part 1, Bali, Indonesia

General information

Location:
This year the course will take place on the island of the Gods, beautiful Bali. We are hosted in the stunning 5* Siddhartha Resort. This resort is situated on the east side of Bali right by the sea, far from the major tourist areas. The 30 bungalows and three villas (with two separate bedrooms and private pool) are in perfect harmony with nature on a terraced hillside. The beautiful tropical garden has been created with great expertise and attention to detail. And all with a breath-taking view of the 3241m high volcano, Mount Agung. Besides the beautiful bungalows in which you stay, there is also a conference room and a dive shop on the resort. Furthermore there is a large swimming pool, a cosy bar, a good restaurant and an excellent spa & massage suite. In short, a place you do not want to leave. There are the most beautiful dive sites on the doorstep, like the famous wreck of the US Liberty. At these dive sites you will find a lot of fish, including sharks, and sometimes a whale or whale shark. There are also beautiful nudibranchs, (pygmy) sea horses, frog fishes, Napoleon wrasses and basically anything you can find in tropical waters around Indonesia.  A drive, and you're at the sites of Ahmed or Nusa Penida for mantas and mola mola. There are also many opportunities for shore excursions, for example climbing the Gunung Agung.

Number of participants:
Given the structure and the interactive nature of this course, up to 15 people can register.

Entrance  Level:
The course is open to all medical doctors.

Date: 5-12 November 2022.

Accreditation:
The course is part of the international certification of Medical Examiners of Divers.

Certificate:
On completion of the course, all participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Course materials:
The course manual will be distributed approximately 10 days before the course. We also advise all English-speaking participants to purchase a copy of ‘Diving and Subaquatic Medicine’ fifth edition by Carl Edmonds, Michael Bennett, John Lippmann, Simon Mitchell.

Course language:
The course language will be English.

Travel:
If starting your journey from Schiphol Amsterdam airport, you fly with KLM with a short stop in Singapore to Denpasar. From Denpasar the trip continues by comfortable minibus to the beautiful Siddhartha resort. For those who depart from another airport or who want to arrange their own flights there is a discount on the registration fee (see registration form).

Accommodation:
The Siddhartha resort has different types of bungalows and villas.All accommodations are equipped with air conditioning, mini-bar and small fridge, electric boiler, safe and free WiFi. Daily housekeeping is standard.

Superior Bungalows for 1-2 persons,45 m² with queen size bed.
Our freestanding Superior Bungalows are surrounded by stunning tropical gardens and each has an outdoor terrace with sunbeds and sitting area, a queen-size bed, desk area, and tropical bathroom with a covered 2-sided rain shower. Your en-suite bathroom includes custom-made toiletries, a hairdryer, bathrobes, and slippers.

DeLuxe Bungalows for 1-3 persons,55 m² with queen size bed.and day bed
Most of our Deluxe Bungalows have ocean views. Each freestanding Deluxe Bungalow is spacious and comfortable with a private balcony with sunbeds and a sitting area. The Deluxe Bungalow interiors feature high ceilings, a queen bed, desk area, a window daybed (that can convert to a single bed), a minibar, and an open-air tropical bathroom with a covered outdoor 2-sided rain shower. Your en-suite bathroom includes custom-made toiletries, a hairdryer, bathrobes, and slippers.

Ocean Front DeLuxe Bungalows for 1-3 persons, 65 m² with king size bed and day bed.
The Oceanfront Deluxe Bungalows will make your stay with us unforgettable. Complete with the sound of crashing waves and breathtaking sea views, each bungalow is freestanding and has a private balcony with sunbeds and a sitting area to relax on and to rejoice in the magic of the ocean. Wake up to the first rays of the sun as she rises over the ocean, bathing the room in warm, Golden light. The bungalow interiors are spacious with high ceilings, a king bed, a window daybed (that can convert into a single bed), desk area, minibar, and a large open-air tropical bathroom with a covered outdoor 2-sided rain shower. Your en-suite bathroom includes custom-made toiletries, a hairdryer, bathrobes, and slippers. On top of the formentioned facilities these bungalows have been equiped with Satellite TV and bluetooth speakers.

2-Bedroom Oceanfront Pool Villas for max 5 pesrsons, 58 m2 (x2) with king size beds (2x). 
Siddhartha has 2 private Oceanfront Pool Villas. Spanning a lavish 228+ square meters, each villa is designed as an intimate haven maximizing natural light, openness, and expansive oceanfront views with a private garden and direct access to the sea. Two separate master bedrooms with ensuite outdoor tropical bathrooms are separated by a common outdoor lounge and dining area, kitchenette, and large outdoor terrace with sunbeds – all overlooking a private pool, and of course, the ocean. Each en-suite tropical bathroom has a covered outdoor 2-sided rain shower and includes custom-made toiletries, a hairdryer, bathrobes, and slippers.On top of the formentioned facilities these bungalows have been equiped with Satellite TV and bluetooth speakers.

Diving:
If you are a certified diver and do not need a diving course, a ten-dive package is included in the registration fee. Any rental of diving equipment is not included in the costs (air and weights are included). For those with a Nitrox certification, Nitrox is available free or extra charge. On the non-course day(s) it is possible to make dive excursions. For those who never dived before, the Open Water course is an excellent start (see registration form).

Costs:
The basic price of the diving medicine course includes flights, transfers, accommodation based on 2 pax sharing a superior bungalow*, breakfast, 10 boat dives, diving medicine course and all the course literature for € 2845. This includes the currently known flight surcharges**.
For registrations received after June 9th additional costs may apply, as late bookings can be a lot more expensive due to the lesser availability airline seats *** or accoommodation.
Since the airlines and our accommodation require a deposit, we ask for a down payment of €800 at registration.We strongly recommend that you take out an travel and cancellation insurance, so that you are always insured in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as new COVID infections.

Cancellation policy.
The following cancellations rules are applicable:

• • For cancellation by the participant more than three months prior to the starting date of the activity, there is an administration fee of €150 excl. any ticket, accommodation or diving cancellation fee.
  • For cancellation by the participant between three months and one month prior to the starting date of the activity, 90% of the total course fee, excl. any ticket, accommodation or diving cancellation costs, is payable.
  • For cancellation by the participant less than one months prior to the starting date of the activity, 100% of the total course fee, excl. any extra ticket, accommodation or diving cancellation costs, is payable.
