Prachtige praktijkervaring voor duikerarts: GEZOCHT en AANGEBODEN!

In Augustus 2016 vindt er een duikexpeditie plaats. Deze expeditie naar Jutland (Denemarken) wordt gedaan vanaf het 56m lange voormalige marineschip Cdt Fourcault onder leiding van Kapitein Pim de Rhoodes. De Cdt Fourcault vaart onder Belgische vlag en is het veruit het meest geschikte schip in Europa, zo niet in de wereld, voor dit soort expedities. Ze wordt onder andere ingezet voor reddings-, bergings-, duik-, onderzoeks-, en expeditiewerkzaamheden en is wereldwijd inzetbaar. Meer informatie over dit schip.

De Cdt Fourcault heeft een multiplace hyperbare kamer aan boord (voldoende voor behandeling van drie duikers tegelijk). De "tweede man" aan boord, een fysiotherapeut, heeft een opleiding tot chamber operator gevolgd in Plymouth (DDRC).

De duiktrip in augustus 2016 naar Jutland en omvat o.a. wrakduiken tussen de 40m en 60m, deels met open circuit (OC) lucht, deels met OC trimix, deels met rebreather.

Voor deze drie weken durende tocht (of een deel daarvan) wordt een duikerarts gezocht om enerzijds medische support te bieden, post-dive echocardiografieën en bubble detectie te doen bij die duikers en anderzijds eventuele decompressieongevallen te behandelen (met telefonische steun van het militair hospitaal in Brussel).

Voor een duikerarts die bezig is met de certificering tot Diving Medicine Physician is dit mogelijk een prachtige invulling van de duikstage. Gezien de ervarenheid van de duikers gaat de voorkeur uit naar een duikerarts met enige ervaring op het gebied van technisch duiken en rebreathers.

Voorafgaand aan deze expeditie krijgt u een korte oefenstage in bubble detectie en echocardiografie aangeboden.

Aankondiging 10th ECHM Consensus Conference on Hyperbaric Medicine
April 15-16th 2016,  Lille

The European Committee for Hyperbaric Medicine (ECHM) has in its objectives the continuous improvement in the quality of care and the safety in hyperbaric medicine. One of the tools used to reach this target is the organization of consensus conferences to issue widely accepted guidelines. Up to now, nine such conferences have been organized and their recommendations widely diffused.
Two of these consensus conferences were especially focused on the organization, indications and quality of care in Hyperbaric Medicine and have been organized in 1994 and 2004. Ten years after the last one, it is now time to review and update these guidelines according to the advance in medical knowledge and the experience gained in clinical practice during that period.
In 1994, the guidelines were elaborated by a jury from expert reports and discussion with the conference audience. In 2004, report of the guidelines was improved in grading the recommendations both by the level of evidence supporting the recommendation and the importance for practice of that recommendation. The this new guidelines, ECHM wishes to go a step further in reporting not only recommendations with their confidence level but also the evidence supporting the recommendation and how confident jury members are in that recommendation ( GRADE method).
To do so, ECHM selects well recognized experts in each field to elaborate a report on a topic with an exhaustive literature survey, a synthesis of the evidence and a proposal for recommendations on that topic. All the reports will circulate between the expert group and each expert will be asked to weight his agreement or disagreement with the proposed recommendations. During the conference, reports and expert opinions will be presented to the audience which will have an opportunity to discuss and amend the reports before final consensus.

SHF-cursisten kunnen maar liefst 50% korting krijgen op lidmaatschapsbijdrage van de European Underwater and Baromedical Society (EUBS).

De Scott Haldane Foundation (SHF) streeft naar zoveel mogelijk goede kennisoverdracht aan haar cursisten. SHF biedt daarom haar actieve cursisten, zij die in een meerdaagse SHF-cursus gevolgd hebben, voor het eerst volgende jaar een korting aan van maar liefst 50% op het lidmaatschap van de EUBS. Hiermee ontvangt u o.a. viermaal per jaar het DHM-journal (op papier en elektronisch) en een grote korting op uw inschrijving voor het jaarcongres.
Dat houdt in dat als u in 2016 een meerdaagse SHF-cursus in 2016 volgt, u gebruik kunt maken van de SHF-kortingsregeling voor uw EUBS-lidmaatschap 2017.

Het boek "The science of Diving. Things your instructor never told you" is een must voor op de boekenplank van iedere duikerarts.
